EASY WORKING DOS
Text-Based User Interface for MS-DOS
This is Easy Working DOS Manager by Spinnaker Software, a text based DOS GUI from 1989.
It looks fairly innocous for a text based GUI but it has a couple of tricks up it's sleeve - such as context sensitive help (using F1) and backup and restore of your hard disk, plus numerous other floppy utilities.
There are reasonable disk and file management functions.
It's quite easy to add DOS program menu items and DOS apps run fine.
There are no Spinnaker-created apps included as apparently the folk at Spinnaker, unlike numerous other authors, accepted they were creating a GUI and not a new OS - now that's a nice change.
Only basic config options to change screen colours (but not the black background though).
Back in 1989 this would have been quite a usable GUI and it worked well for me and was quick to load DOS apps.
I've attached a .zip file with the VirtualBox VHD and another .zip file with the install files and a drag'n'drop FD image file that will help with any install.
When you run the VHD in VirtualBox there's a prompt to continue and load Easy Working, or quit to DOS.
If you quit to DOS you can run Windows 3.1 by typing WIN.
The VHD was created using VirtualBox 6.1.26 and the DOS version installed is 6.22 with Cute Mouse loaded.
